The fifth annual 5K DaVita Kidney Awareness Run/Walk at the RFK Stadium is Saturday, with onside registration beginning at 9 a.m. and opening ceremonies at 10 a.m.
The event benefits the Kidney TRUST, a non-profit organization that provides education and testing to bring awareness about kidney disease. D.C. is one stop on a national 10-city tour of 5K events to promote awareness and prevention of the disease.
An estimated 30,700 District residents have chronic kidney disease. Kidney disease screenings will be provided, along with games, activities and music for the family.
