Lob City’s main thoroughfare has been shut down at both ends.
The Los Angeles Clippers announced that All-Star point guard Chris Paul underwent successful surgery on his right thumb Tuesday. An injury first suffered during the playoffs then aggravated during Team USA training camp in July, it didn’t keep Paul from playing an integral role in the U.S. run to a gold medal.
But it will keep him out for the next eight weeks, according to the team’s projection. The NBA season starts in 10 weeks.
It’s a blow for the Clippers, as All-Star forward Blake Griffin also had to undergo surgery in July after suffering a meniscus tear in his right knee. He is supposed to be ready by the start of training camp.
But if Paul doesn’t get back on time, the Clippers could find themselves quickly lagging well behind the stacked Lakers, a determined Oklahoma City and an intact San Antonio. That could put Paul’s future (he’s a free agent next summer) with the Clippers in jeopardy.
