Trump to meet with Goldman Sachs president Gary Cohn

President-elect Trump is slated to meet with Goldman Sachs Chief Operating Officer Gary Cohn on Tuesday as he continues to gather input on how to fill the remaining cabinet-level positions in his administration.

Cohn’s visit to Trump Tower, announced by transition officials Tuesday morning, comes after the president-elect repeatedly targeted Goldman Sachs during the general election, claiming the Wall Street giant had “total control” over defeated Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Goldman Sachs blocked partners of the firm from contributing to certain political campaigns, including the Trump-Pence ticket, in early September.

Trump transition officials did not provide details about the president-elect’s upcoming meeting Cohn, nor would they confirm whether the Wall Street titan is under consideration for a position in the next administration.

Despite promising to “drain the swamp” in Washington and diminish the influence of big banks, a number of former or current Wall Street executives have played a role in Trump’s transition operation.

Former Goldman Sachs banker Steven Mnuchin and SkyBridge Capital Founder Anthony Scaramucci have been spotted by reporters on a near daily basis inside Trump Tower, and the incoming Republican president recently tapped Steve Bannon, outgoing Breitbart News chairman and a Goldman Sachs alum, to be his senior counselor inside the White House.
