Gas prices continued to decrease across the country, with the national average cost for a gallon of regular gas falling to $3.037, according to AAA. This was a 3-cent drop from a week ago, when the cost of regular gas was $3.067 per gallon. Tuesday’s price is also less expensive than a month ago, when a gallon of regular gas was $3.103.
The price of gas has gradually decreased since the summer. Tuesday’s price is the lowest national average price for gas since May 2021, when the average cost for regular gas was $2.985 per gallon, according to the Energy Information Administration. Since then, high gas prices have been a financial burden to drivers at over $3 per gallon and, for a brief period, over $4 per gallon.
