President Joe Biden had a dire warning for people who choose not to get the coronavirus vaccine.
“Ultimately, those who are not vaccinated will end up paying the price,” Biden said during an address Monday. “The vaccinated will continue to be protected against serve illnesses, but others may not be if you’re not vaccinated.”
While the president said virus deaths were down around 81%, he warned the progress could be “reversed” if people do not get vaccinated.
“I can’t promise that it will continue this way,” Biden warned. “We know there will be advances and setbacks, and we know that many flareups could occur. But if the unvaccinated get vaccinated, they’ll protect themselves and other unvaccinated people around them.”
BIDEN’S FIRST 100 DAYS MARKED BY CORONAVIRUS VACCINE PUSH, MISSTEPS, AND MISCOMMUNICATIONS
Biden said that 60% of people will have received their first dose of the vaccine by Tuesday while reiterating his goal to see 70% of people get the shot by July 4.
Breaking from former President Donald Trump’s “America First” policy, Biden also announced that the United States will ship 20 million doses overseas by the end of June. That number is the highest of “any country in the world by five times,” boasted White House press secretary Jen Psaki.
“We need to help fight the disease around the world to keep us safe here at home and to do the right thing and help the other people,” Biden said. “It’s the right thing to do. It’s the smart thing to do. It’s the strong thing to do.”
The news comes amid the administration’s continued push to encourage people to get the coronavirus vaccine, with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last week updating its guidance to allow for vaccinated individuals to stop wearing masks in most situations.

“We’ve gotten this far — please protect yourself until you get to the finish line,” Biden said of the CDC announcement. “If you haven’t been vaccinated, wear your mask for your own protection and the protection of the people who also have not been vaccinated yet.”
