State names two Pakistani groups global terrorists

The State Department designated two Pakistan-based radical Islamic groups as global terrorist organizations on Wednesday.

The Tariq Gidar Group, also know as TGG, is responsible for the late 2014 massacre at Peshawar’s Army Public School that killed 132 children. That was Pakistan’s deadliest terrorist attack.

State also named Jama’at ul Dawa al-Qu’ran, or JDQ, which pledged allegiance to former Taliban leader Mullah Omar, who died in 2013, and is tied to al-Qaida.

JDQ, which also operates in eastern Afghanistan, was responsible for the 2010 kidnapping and ultimate death of British aid worker Linda Norgrove.
