The third day of jury deliberations have begun in the trial of Ingmar Guandique, accused of killing federal intern Chandra Levy. Deliberations began about 11:30 a.m. Friday.
The jury has deliberated for more than 11 hours over the past two days without reaching a verdict.
Guandique, 29, is accused of killing Levy, a 24-year-old Federal Bureau of Prisons intern, while she was exercising in Rock Creek Park in May 2001. Her remains were found in the park a year later.
Levy’s disappearance made national headlines due to her relationship with former congressman Gary Condit (D-Calif.), who was initially considered a suspect in the case.
Guandique was charged in Levy’s death last year.
