Jogging Justin Trudeau photobombs high schoolers heading to prom

A group of Canadian high school students gathering along the Stanley Park Seawall in Vancouver, British Columbia, before heading to their prom on Friday received a surprise when Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau jogged past them.

“We were just taking photos and hanging around talking, and then Trudeau, he just comes running,” Constantine Maragos told the CBC. “At first we were like, ‘Why is the prime minister of Canada running the seawall? And then we started yelling for Trudeau to get in the photo.”

Trudeau took a break from his run to pose with the dressed-up high schoolers, and his official photographer Adam Scotti captured some photos of the event.

Scotti first tweeted a photo of the prime minister running by the students with the caption “Prom season in #Vancouver.” He later posted four images on his Instagram account, saying that Trudeau’s stop was “a memorable moment for all. I always love to watch people’s faces as they realize who just ran past, often several paces after he has passed.”

This is not the first time that the Canadian prime minister has photobombed special events.

The Star and CBC said that last summer Trudeau appeared in the background of some beach wedding photos taken in Tofino, British Columbia. A few days before that, he also stopped to take photos with a family he ran into while hiking in Gatineau Park in Quebec.
