Wikileaks releases thousands of alleged DNC documents

Wikileaks published more than 8,000 documents and 167 off-the-record emails purportedly taken from the Democratic National Committee Friday, just days before the start of the party’s convention in Philadelphia.

The documents include briefings about off-the-record fundraisers and candid photographs. The emails revealed private conversations between party staffers and reporters that were conducted either on deep background or off the record entirely.

The DNC has yet to confirm or deny that its systems were hacked, an event that may have resulted in the massive leak of internal records.

Many of the records revealed details about Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., who chairs the DNC. Documents appeared to include her calendars, which contained personal details such as her children’s after-school activities and when she should take her medicine.

The records included receipts from business lunches and resumes from prospective hires.

One document released by Wikileaks even laid out the perks that high-level donors would be given at the convention in Philadelphia, such as tickets to an “exclusive VIP party” and a photo opportunity at the podium on the main stage.
