House Intelligence Committee member Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH) has pledged further investigations into the origins of COVID-19, which a recent House report alleges may have been the doing of Chinese biological weapon researchers.
In a call with reporters, Wenstrup discussed the findings of his recent House Intelligence Committee report, which found some indications that the virus may have accidentally leaked to the public after being created by Chinese scientists.
“This is just the beginning,” Wenstrup proclaimed.
Wenstrup stressed that the committee’s findings were meant to uncover the truth and not intended to be “vindictive.”
“We’re not vindictive in our approach,” Wenstrup responded when asked by the Washington Examiner how he would respond to Dr. Anthony Fauci’s criticisms that accusing China of being behind the virus was too confrontational and would be counterproductive. “We’re just trying to get to the truth. I think we’re taking a professional approach to this.”

“I don’t think it’s being confrontational with China. We’re only asking them to be honest and upfront,” he added.
The congressman stressed that the report wasn’t a “smoking gun” and that a deeper investigation could find that China wasn’t behind the virus. However, he said that as of now, “there’s no evidence it came from nature.”
When asked what consequences he would like to see if China is found to have created the virus, Wenstrup said he hoped it would mean an end to scientific cooperation between China and the United States as far as research goes.
