Clinton rallies Kentucky voters against Trump

As Hillary Clinton awaited the West Virginia Democratic primary results Tuesday night, she turned her focus to the general election, rallying supporters in Kentucky against Donald Trump.

“If I’m so fortunate to be the nominee, I am looking forward to debating Donald Trump come the fall!” Clinton said in Louisville.

“People say, ‘Maybe he doesn’t really mean it,'” she added, referring to Trump’s more controversial comments. “When you run for and are serving a president you better mean what you say!”

Although Kentucky doesn’t vote until May 17, Clinton was considered more likely to win there than in West Virginia.

In recent days, Clinton has turned her attention to winning over female voters, holding various roundtables focusing on women’s issues such as paid family leave, equal pay and universal pre-kindergarten. In contrast, Trump has constantly attacked Clinton of playing the “women’s card.”

“I don’t care what he says about me, but I do resent what he says about other people, other successful women, women who have worked hard, women have done their part,” Clinton said of Trump. “We are after all 51 percent of the country. I have never seen us have such a divisive campaign and I am going to do my best to keep talking about what the issues are, what I see as our future, the positive kind of future I see for America.”
