Trump attacks Biden as candidate of Wall Street during presidential debate

President Trump tore into former Vice President Joe Biden as the candidate of Wall Street during the presidential debate on Thursday.

The attack came after the Democratic presidential nominee mentioned recent reporting that Trump early this year told Wall Street investors that the virus would be bad and those investors shorted stocks.

Trump said he does not take money from Wall Street, but Biden does.

“You’ve raised a lot of money. Tremendous amounts of money, and every time you raise money, deals are made,” Trump said.

The president went on to say that he if he did accept donations from Wall Street, it would be a great amount.

“I would blow away every record, but I don’t want to do that because it puts me in a bad situation,” he said.

Biden’s response was that his average contribution is $43.

The former vice president has reportedly received over $200 million from small donations, but he has also accepted donations from Wall Street firms that contributed six figures to his campaign.

Biden’s campaign committee has raised over $800 million, according to Open Secrets. Donors from the securities and investment sector have given over $57 million, according to Open Secrets.

Wall Street firms, such as Blackstone, JPMorgan Chase, the Carlyle Group, and Kohlberg Kravis & Robert, have contributed to Biden, CNBC reported.
