Recycling for a cause in downtown D.C.

The number of recycling bins in downtown Washington will be quadrupled due to a new partnership between city officials and PepsiCo.

A total of 363 recycling bins will be placed downtown by PepsiCo’s “Dream Machine” recycling initiative. The bins are expected to collect more than 1 million pounds of recycling that would have otherwise gone in the trash, according to Richard Bradley, executive director of the Downtown D.C. Business Improvement District.

For every can or bottle recycled using a Dream Machine, PepsiCo will make a donation to a program that provides business training to post-9/11 disabled veterans.
