President Donald Trump will attend this weekend’s NCAA wrestling championships at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia.
It will be Trump’s first visit to Pennsylvania since he began his second term in January. He is also believed to be the first sitting president to attend the collegiate wrestling finals. Trump made history in February when he attended the 2025 Super Bowl in New Orleans between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles, becoming the first president to do so while in office.
Sen. Dave McCormick (R-PA), a former collegiate wrestler at the U.S. Military Academy, will be joining the president at the event, according to reports.
During Trump’s campaign, he spent a considerable amount of time in the Keystone State, holding rallies in numerous areas of Pennsylvania to ensure voter turnout. In one day in October, he famously served food at a McDonald’s in suburban Philadelphia, held a rally in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and attended a Sunday night NFL game in Pittsburgh.
Pennsylvania traditionally votes for the Democratic nominee for president, but Trump also won the state in 2016. He was the first Republican candidate to win Pennsylvania in a presidential election since then-Vice President George H.W. Bush did so in 1988.
