The Iranian government is looking to provide the Russians with weapons in their war in Ukraine, national security adviser Jake Sullivan alleged.
Sullivan, taking questions from the White House podium on Monday afternoon, revealed that the Iranians are prepared to give Russia “several hundred UAVs, including weapons capable UAVs on an expedited timeline,” with training on the new weapon starting any day now.

“Our information further indicates that Iran is preparing to train Russian forces to use these UAVs, with initial training sessions slated to begin as soon as early July,” he continued. “It’s unclear whether Iran has delivered any of these units to Russia already.”
Sullivan did not detail the intelligence that supports his accusations, while the Biden administration has frequently sought in recent months to declassify intelligence about Russian aggression ahead of said conduct.
The president’s national security adviser reiterated the administration’s support for Ukraine as its countrymen and women fight for their sovereignty. The United States has provided more than $7 billion worth of military weapons for the Ukrainians since Russia invaded on Feb. 24.
These military packages, which are announced on a near-weekly or biweekly basis, have changed over time to accommodate the needs of the Ukrainians.

The administration’s foreign policy toward Iran appears unchanged by Sullivan’s admission. He said moments earlier in the briefing that the administration still “believe[s] there is a deal on the table” for both sides to rejoin the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, from which the Trump administration pulled out in 2018.
International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi said last month that Iran’s decision to remove all of the IAEA’s monitoring equipment installed under the original deal would be “a fatal blow” to any chance of reentering the deal.
