Late-night talk show host Seth Meyers defended his writer Amber Ruffin after her headlining performance at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner was canceled.

Ruffin’s absence will be the second time in the dinner’s history that there won’t be a comedic performance, excluding the COVID-19 pandemic years, as the White House Correspondents’ Association hasn’t announced a replacement. Others who have hosted the dinner include Jay Leno, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart, and Stephen Colbert.
