Melania Trump announces chief of staff

First lady Melania Trump announced her chief of staff pick Wednesday amid reports that she may not move to the White House and that she had yet to hire any staff for her East Wing office.

Trump announced in a news release that she had hired Lindsay Reynolds, who previously worked in the White House under former President George W. Bush.

Us Weekly reported earlier in the day that President Trump’s wife may not move to the White House after their son Barron’s school year is over, as previously planned.

“They will reevaluate toward the end of the school year if they will keep this arrangement or if Melania and Barron will move to Washington,” a source said.

“They could go either way right now. They will ultimately do what’s best for Barron.”

CNN also reported earlier Wednesday that the first lady had yet to hire any staff, which meant tours through the White House were on hold.

“I am putting together a professional and highly-experienced team which will take time to do properly,” Trump said.

Reynolds said she is working to ensure the visitors office is fully staffed so public tours can resume.

“I am working to ensure that the White House Visitors Office is fully staffed and operational and ready to accept tour requests for the public in the coming weeks after a traditional temporary closure during the transition period,” she said.

“In the meantime, we are using this time to tend to routine maintenance, updates and renovations along the tour route to ensure the guest experience is top notch.”
