Fire contained at U.Md.

Firefighters contained a blaze that broke out in an electrical room of a building on the campus of the University of Maryland in College Park. They were called at about 3:15 p.m. Monday to the J.M. Patterson Building, Prince George’s Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady said. The fire began in an electrical room on the second story of the building and extended into an attic above the room, Brady said. A sprinkler system in the building and firefighters were able to knock down the fire by 3:30 p.m. The building houses offices and classrooms, but no classes were being held because of the MLK holiday. There were no injuries. – AP
