The brother of a Parkland, Fla., shooting victim claims he was snubbed speaking at the March for our Lives anti-gun violence rally in Washington, D.C., last weekend because his message didn’t fit the narrative presented by his peers.
David Hogg, a student from Marjory Stoneman Douglas and one of the leading voices in new student-led gun control movement, shared a video of Hunter Pollack on Twitter Saturday and claimed that he wasn’t given the chance to speak at the march due to “miscommunication” rather than being snubbed.
“A miscommunication led to Hunter not being able to speak at the march… I would like you to hear it now,” Hogg tweeted along with a video which was taken at a Saturday fundraiser organized by Pollack’s father in honor of his sister, Meadow Pollack, who was one of the 17 people killed during the shooting last month.

“Please share this video so as many people as possible can hear this beautiful message… We need an intersectional approach to this issue to save as many lives as we can. This isn’t left or right, it’s about saving lives. Through unity and love we will win and end gun violence,” Hogg wrote in a follow-up tweet.

Pollack thanked his sister’s classmate for sharing his speech but refuted the idea that there was a logistical error.
“Thank you, I appreciate you pushing out my video but there was no miscommunication my speech didn’t fit In to the agenda,” he replied to Hogg’s tweet.

Another student from the Parkland community came to Pollack’s defense and insisted that there was no miscommunication.

Pollack, along with his father, have voiced a different tone than Hogg and the other March for our Lives activists since the tragedy struck on Feb. 14th. Since losing his sister, he has been advocating for arming teachers and increased school security measures.
