Todd Starnes calls RNC efforts to register voters at gas stations ‘BRILLIANT!’

Amid high gas prices, the Republican party is looking to capitalize on frustrations by registering voters right at their gas stations.

The Republican National Committee reportedly held voter registration drives near gas stations in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday.

Conservative radio host Todd Starnes tweeted about the registration drives, calling them “BRILLIANT!”

“Arizonans are frustrated with paying the record-high gas prices we’ve seen recently, this is an issue that affects almost every single Arizonan,” Ben Petersen, the RNC’s Arizona spokesperson, told AZCentral. “There’s no doubt that everyone is feeling the pain at the pump, so a gas station right now may be the very best possible place for one of our volunteers to have a conversation with someone and get someone signed up to vote.”

The RNC said it will roll out a nationwide program to connect with voters at gas stations in an effort to energize them to vote in November’s midterm elections.

However, Rep. Jim Jordan, an Ohio Republican, has said that Biden and the Democrats are out of touch with the public. He blamed Democrats’ policies, which were implemented well before the war in Ukraine, for causing supply chain issues, high inflation, and rising gas prices.

“Now that they’ve made gas $5 a gallon, what do they do?” Jordan told Fox News host Laura Ingraham last week. “They tell us all to go buy a Tesla. I mean, this is how out of touch they are with normal Americans.”
