The National Rifle Association has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a town hall Wednesday night with students and parents affected by the mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., last week.
Spokeswoman Dana Loesch will represent the NRA at the town hall, CNN announced early Wednesday.
The town hall comes a week after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, killing 17 people. He was charged with 17 counts of premeditated murder.
In the wake of the shooting, students of the high school have appeared on cable TV news and in major newspapers advocating for stricter restrictions on guns.
Florida Rep. Ted Deutch and Sens. Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio will also participate in the town hall. Broward Country Sheriff Scott Israel will also participate, CNN reported.
President Trump and Florida Gov. Rick Scott turned down CNN’s invitations to participate. Trump is hosting a listening session with students and teachers at the White House on Wednesday afternoon.
The town hall is set to air live at 9 p.m. and will be moderated by CNN’s Jake Tapper.
