MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle apologizes after mocking Larry Kudlow’s faith in ‘God’s will’

MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle has apologized for comments she made mocking Larry Kudlow, President Trump’s economic adviser, for saying that he trusted “God’s will.”

Ruhle issued the apology on Twitter, saying she “meant no offense” and apologized “if my comments came off as dismissive of his faith.”

Kudlow, whom Trump appointed as director of the National Economic Council, accepted the apology on social media, adding, “Let’s move on.”

Kudlow was previously a conservative commentator on CNBC, and last week, he thanked the network for giving him a chance after he had dealt with an addiction. He concluded his statements with, “However things work out, it will be God’s will.” Kudlow is a Roman Catholic convert.

Ruhle raised the comments during her show, “Velshi & Ruhle.”

“That’s an interesting way to talk about being the national economic adviser to the president,” Ruhle said. “‘God’s will?’”

Later in the segment, she returned to the comments.

“This will be a challenge to Larry Kudlow, because the position that he’s in now, he has to stand there and represent real data,” she said.

Co-host Ali Velshi said: “Right. But, the fear is he may stand there and represent the president in the face of real data.”

Ruhle replied, “Well, as Larry Kudlow said, ‘It’s God’s will.'”
