Trump’s ‘rhetoric’ alone is deterring southern border arrests: Joe Concha

The Washington Examiner’s Joe Concha commended the Trump administration’s “amazing” drop in border arrests, suggesting that illegal immigrants are taking President Donald Trump’s warnings of illegal border crossings seriously.

Concha’s assessment was in response to an op-ed written by the Washington Examiner’s Conn Carroll, who noted how border arrests reached a record high of 301,981 in December 2023 on former President Joe Biden’s watch, but decreased to 11,000 a month after Trump returned to the Oval Office. Trump made deportations and border security a major focus of his campaign ahead of the 2024 election, which has since translated to border crossings that are “down 95%,” according to Concha.
