A Chicago-area grocery store piled thousands of bananas outside its storefront to earn a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records on Wednesday.
With more than 70,000 pounds of bananas, the Jewel-Osco grocery store in the western Chicago suburb of Westmont reportedly broke the world record for the largest fruit display.

A Guinness representative was on-site to verify that the “Banana Bonanza” display broke the previous record of 40,000 pounds of oranges set in January.
Following the Guinness announcement, bananas were given away to customers. Any leftover bananas will reportedly be donated to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.
