Former President Donald Trump encouraged chatter regarding a possible third White House campaign during his first speech in Washington, D.C., since leaving office.
“I won the second time. I did much better the second time,” Trump said Tuesday at the America First Agenda Summit of the 2016 and 2020 elections. “We may just have to do it again.”

Trump recalled his two impeachments and former special counsel Robert Mueller’s federal Russia investigation. He claimed no other lawmaker “could have taken this” and reminded the audience that former President Richard Nixon “didn’t even go through one impeachment.”
“They want to damage me so I cannot go back to work for you,” the 45th president said. “I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
“Soon, we will have greatness again,” he added. “We’re just getting ready for an incredible comeback.”
Trump’s 90-minute address — hosted by the America First Policy Institute, an organization connected to the former president — was mostly focused on crime policy but did broach his personal aspirations and recriminations at points.
His remarks overshadowed ones made Tuesday morning by another possible 2024 Republican candidate, former Vice President Mike Pence.
Trump has made up his mind concerning the next presidential election and only has to choose an announcement date, including before November’s midterm cycle, according to New York magazine.
