Water restrictions largely ignored

Customers are largely ignoring the water restrictions implemented in Montgomery and Prince George’s counties, according to the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission

The agency wants to reduce water use by one-third, but officials it has dipped less than 10 percent since Thursday.

WSSC banned all outdoor water use through at least the weekend after a major water main failed in Potomac, and told customers to use water only when necessary.

The water agency serves roughly 1.8 million people in the Maryland suburbs.
