Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) predicted that if Zohran Mamdani became the mayor of New York, it would prompt an exodus from the city similar to 2020 under then-Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Mamdani, 33, recently became the Democratic nominee for mayor and will face off against incumbent Eric Adams in November. The New York state assemblyman has offered campaign promises of free child care and free bus transportation, which have alarmed politicians on the other side.
