Guess what? This is the final weekend before Thanksgiving, which means it’s the last chance to just have some regular ol’ fun without holiday pressure, ice-covered roads and the heaping side of stress that comes with the holiday season. Five things to do this weekend. Friday: Local show benefiting DC Lawyers for Youth at the Black Cat
So sue us: We like local bands. Nothing can bar us from this show, and we’ll keep these lawyer puns brief. The DC Lawyers for Youth’s mission “is to improve the Washington, D.C. juvenile justice system through advocacy, direct service and the dissemination of information,” according to its Web site. The Black Cat show features Canyon, Vandaveer, the Deadmen, John Bustine and Brandon Butler. $12, main stage at 9 p.m. For more info, visit blackcatdc.com
Also Friday: The Alliance Francaise de Washington is holding a wine and cheese party. francedc.org.
Friday: Cedric the Entertainer at the Washington Convention Center
Who knew the Convention Center hosted comedy acts? Cedric the Entertainer takes the stage Friday night. Maybe best known for roles in “The Steve Harvey Show” and “Barbershop,” Cedric still does his stand-up gig. Now is the chance to catch one of the “Original Kings of Comedy.” $32.25 to $103.25. 8 p.m. Visit dcconvention.com for more info.
More Cedric: If you can’t make the D.C. show, he’s in Baltimore on Saturday. baltimorearena.com.
Saturday: Chaise Lounge at Wolf Trap
Area band Chaise Lounge brings a retro sound to the stage, something out of the early ’60s. The jazz group features horns, and lead singer Marilyn Older on vocals as they go through both standards and originals. At the Barns. 7:30 p.m. $18. For more details visit wolftrap.org.
More music: The Frames celebrate their 20th anniversary at the 9:30 Club on Sunday.
Saturday: Capital Bacon & Beer Bash at National Harbor
Two of the greatest words in the English language are “bacon” and “beer.” So the Capital Bacon & Beer Bash at National Harbor is on our radar. The event features more than 10 kinds of bacon and 10 beers, plus music and a hog butchering demonstration. Presented by Heavy Seas Beer out of Baltimore. Two sessions: noon to 4 p.m., and 5 to 9 p.m. $85. Visit nationalharbor.com for details.
Wine more your thing? The National Wine Experience takes place at the Newseum on Saturday, but it’s $115. nationalwineexperience.com.
Through Sunday: ‘Hair’ at the Kennedy Center
Anyone who saw the recent revival on Broadway knows what a groovy show this is. More than 40 years since its debut — yes, baby boomer, four decades — “Hair” still resonates and entertains. This is the last weekend the show will be in town. Let the sun shine in and don’t miss this production at the Kennedy Center. Show times vary. $25 to $115. Visit kennedy-center.org for more info.
More Kennedy Center: Local band Bad Influence takes the free Millennium Stage on Saturday.
