Two fires destroy business

Two fires broke out within 24 hours of each other at the same service station in the Silver Hill area of Prince George’s County, fire officials said. The first occurred early Saturday morning, the second early  Sunday morning.

Firefighters put out Saturday’s blaze at the All Tune and Lube at 4701 St. Barnabas Rd. within 10 minutes of arrival and reported the fire as accidental. After Sunday’s fire destroyed the building, investigators are looking into a possible link, said spokesman Mark Brady.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury to his hand during Saturday’s blaze and was treated at a hospital, Brady said. Investigators estimate total loss for the building at about $200,000. – Leah Fabel

Police catch gunman

Passersbychased down a fleeing gunman late Sunday morning after he shot a man in the leg near the 1700 block of Columbia Road in Northwest D.C.’s Adams Morgan neighborhood. District police blocked off area streets and apprehended Adrian Guerra, 41, near Kalorama Road and 18th Street NW, before charging him with assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was taken to a hospital to treat what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries, police said. – Leah Fabel

Triple shooting kills one

A triple shooting late Saturday night near the 5100 block of 7th Street NW has left one man dead and one in critical condition, according to District police. A third man was treated at the scene for an apparent graze wound to the head. The deceased was identified as Harvey Stewart Jr., 38.
