Kushner: Mideast peace plan delayed two months, until June

White House adviser Jared Kushner told a group of ambassadors Wednesday that his Mideast peace plan will be released after Ramadan ends on June 4 — about two months later than expected.

Kushner announced the delay during an address to about 100 global ambassadors at Blair House near the White House.

President Trump’s son-in-law urged ambassadors to keep an “open mind,” a source told Reuters.

“We will all have to look for reasonable compromises that will make peace achievable,” Kushner reportedly said.

Jason Greenblatt, Trump’s longtime legal aide and current special representative for international negotiations, confirmed the report in a tweet.

The Islamic month of Ramadan begins May 5. In February, Kushner said the unveiling would happen after Israel’s April 9 legislative election, which was won by parties that support incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Author Vicky Ward recently reported in her book Kushner Inc. that a draft of Kushner’s plan called for regional land swaps, with Jordan giving land to Palestinians in exchange for land from Saudi Arabia.

Kushner did not tell ambassadors Wednesday if his plan will call for a Palestinian state, but he said the political component was “very detailed.” The plan also calls for economic revitalization of Palestinian areas.
