Wrestling icon Hulk Hogan died Thursday at the age of 71.
Born Terry Gene Bollea, the wrestler’s death comes just over a year after he went viral at the 2024 Republican National Convention, where he gave President Donald Trump a ripping endorsement. Following the election, Hogan said on Instagram, “We’re all real Americans” and encouraged people to “focus on what unites us.”
Hogan also posted a photo of him arm-wrestling Trump on Oct. 27.
“We lost a great friend today, the ‘Hulkster.’ Hulk Hogan was MAGA all the way — Strong, tough, smart, but with the biggest heart. He gave an absolutely electric speech at the Republican National Convention, that was one of the highlights of the entire week,” Trump said on Truth Social.
“He entertained fans from all over the World, and the cultural impact he had was massive. To his wife, Sky, and family, we give our warmest best wishes and love. Hulk Hogan will be greatly missed!” Trump said.
Other politicians and institutions also expressed their sorrow on X.
“R.I.P to a legend,” Donald Trump Jr. said.
“Hulk Hogan was a great American icon. One of the first people I ever truly admired as a kid. The last time I saw him we promised we’d get beers together next time we saw each other. The next time will have to be on the other side, my friend! Rest in peace,” Vice President JD Vance said.
“WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans,” WWE said.

“Rest In Peace Hulk Hogan. He was a patriot and superstar who entertained and helped millions. Hulkmania will live forever!” Rep. Mike Collins (R-FL) said.
TMZ reported that medics were dispatched to Hogan’s Clearwater, Florida, home early Thursday morning regarding a “cardiac arrest,” according to operators.
In his post-wrestling career, Hogan promoted his beer brand, Real American Beer, which he started to “bring the country back together one beer at a time.”
Hogan also went viral in December 2023 when he posted a video and photos of his baptism on X, saying, “Total surrender and dedication to Jesus is the greatest day of my life.”
