Sarah Sanders: Ann Coulter doesn’t have ‘influence over much of anything’

White House press secretary Sarah Sanders belittled Ann Coulter Friday after the conservative commentator disparaged President Trump’s actions on immigration.

“I don’t think Ann Coulter has any influence over this White House, or influence over much of anything, to be honest,” Sanders told Fox News’ Dana Perino. “I don’t think she did before the president became the president and I don’t think she does now. I just don’t see her being an influential voice in this country and certainly not one in this building.”

Coulter responded, “Correct — and I want it memorialized. Nor did I have any influence on the captain of the Titanic, the operators of the Hindenburg or the 9/11/2001 Terrorism Prevention Team.”

Coulter has become increasingly critical of Trump for his failure to fulfill his campaign promise of building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, especially when Republicans held control of the House and Senate during his first two years in office.

While declaring a national emergency earlier Friday in an effort to divert funding to build a wall, Trump was asked whether conservative media personalities pushed him to take the action.

“They don’t decide policy,” Trump said. “In fact, if I went opposite — I mean they have somebody, Ann Coulter, I don’t know her. I hardly know her. I haven’t spoken to her in way over a year. But the press loves saying ‘Ann Coulter.’”

By declaring a national emergency, Coulter said, Trump is scamming “the stupidest people in his base for 2 more years.”
