Russia’s Far East was hit with a massive 8.8-magnitude earthquake on Wednesday morning, hitting the country’s Kamchatka peninsula.

The region is adjacent to the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk. It is located about 1000 miles northeast of Sapporo, Japan. Videos circulated on social media of homes shaking, ceilings falling apart, panels crumbling, and buildings being damaged in Russia as the earthquake hit the southern part of the peninsula.
