Trump: Democratic debates are ‘like watching death’

President Trump said he feels some obligation to watch the Democratic presidential debates but still finds them about as boring as being dead.

“You know, I’m supposed to watch,” Trump said about the debates during a Thursday campaign rally in Ohio. “It’s like my job — try and watch the competition. But it’s like watching death.”

The president mocked the top presidential contenders, going after former Vice President Joe Biden for his son Hunter’s drug use and calling independent Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders “crazy.” He also repeated the claim that, even with none, he still has more Native American heritage than Democratic Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

The latest Democratic debate in December had the lowest amount of viewership of the debates in 2020. Hosted by PBS News Hour and Politico, the debate was watched by 6.2 million people, compared to 18 million viewers during the first debate.
