Trump picks Hollywood conservative Jon Voight for Kennedy Center’s board of trustees

Hollywood conservative Jon Voight will be appointed to serve as members on the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ board of trustees, the White House announced Tuesday.

A list released by White House press secretary Sarah Sanders’ office shows President Trump’s picks to serve on the board for the remainder of a six-year term that lasts until September 2024, including Voight and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Voight, who endorsed Trump in the 2016 election, has been a vocal supporter of the president and spoke at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club last month for a gala hosted by female Trump supporters who call themselves “Trumpettes.”

In December, Voight lauded Trump’s leadership and accused the media of publishing “slanders and lies” to harm the president.

“He’s doing a good job every day. He’s doing such a good job every day,” Voight said in a video posted on Twitter. “He’s doing amazing things, really, and the news is not representing it, and there are people who are trying to cook up slanders and lies to bring him down.”

“This is our country. We’re Americans. We should support our president and be very, very happy that we have this man in the White House that is doing so much for our country,” Voight said.

Voight, 80, is an Academy Award-winning actor who has appeared in such movies as “Midnight Cowboy,” “Coming Home,” “Heat,” and “Ali.” He is also the father of actress Angelina Jolie.

Huckabee is the father of White House press secretary Sarah Sanders. Huckabee also endorsed Trump in the 2016 election.

Others who will be appointed to serve on the board of trustees include Carl Lindner III of Ohio, Marc Stern of California, Kelcy Warren of Texas, Heather Washburne of Texas, Adrienne Arsht of Washington D.C., Karen Tucker LeFrak of New York, Kelly Roberts of California, and Daryl Roth of New York.
