Drew Brees and Saints teammates wear Jacob Blake’s name on helmets during practice

Players from the NFL’s New Orleans Saints honored police shooting victim Jacob Blake during practice by wearing the Wisconsin man’s name on their helmets during practice.

While some teams decided not to practice on Thursday to honor Blake, the Saints decided to practice but pay tribute to him by wearing his name on their helmets, according to Pro Football Talk.

“If you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything,” Saints cornerback Janoris Jenkins posted on Instagram about the gesture.

Jacob Blake, a black man, was shot and paralyzed by police on Sunday after resisting arrest and reaching into his car in defiance of officers’ orders, sparking riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and outrage across the country.

Many professional teams across several sports opted to boycott games as a sign of support for Blake.

In the NBA, all of the teams scheduled to participate in the playoffs on Wednesday opted not to play, and games will not be played again until Saturday.

“Some things are bigger than basketball. The stand taken today by the players and org shows that we’re fed up. Enough is enough. Change needs to happen. I’m incredibly proud of our guys and we stand 100% behind our players ready to assist and bring about real change,” Milwaukee Bucks owner Alex Lasry posted on social media.
