Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., cast off any careful choreography Thursday night by endorsing Hillary Clinton for president ahead of her rumored endorsement next week.
Warren, a first term progressive senator who had been friendly to Clinton challenger Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., during the primaries, came out swinging for Clinton during an interview with the Boston Globe Thursday night.
Warren moved up the endorsement after President Obama weighed in in favor of his old opponent earlier in the day.
“I’m supporting Hillary Clinton because she’s a fighter, a fighter with guts,” Warren said.
She sidestepped questions about whether Clinton should release the transcripts of her paid speeches and whether she would be considered as a vice presidential pick.
Warren is likely on the short list and Clinton has said that a two-woman ticket is possible. Clinton may feel she needs to keep Sanders voters on board and Warren is broadly popular on the left.
