Orrin Hatch attacks ‘smear campaign’ against Kavanaugh, urges swift vote

Sen. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, who is a top member of the Senate Judiciary Committee and its former chairman, called the latest sexual assault claim against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh part of a politically motivated smear campaign.

Hatch, who is retiring this year, said the committee should hold a hearing with one accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, and then vote.
