McCaul links all weekend terror attacks to Islamic State

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul, R-Texas, said Wednesday that all of the terrorist attacks that took place over the weekend were inspired by the Islamic State.

“It’s clear from this journal that Mr. Rahami was receiving inspiration from the ISIS spokesman Mr. al-Adnani,” McCaul said. Chief Islamic State strategist Abu Mohammad al-Adnani was killed in an Syrian airstrike late last month.

“That was the message of ISIS spokesman Mr. al-Adnani, was to kill where you are whatever with whatever it takes by whatever means necessary,” McCaul said. “I think we saw that unfortunately playing out in the streets of New York, in New Jersey and in Minnesota this last Saturday.”

“This is a new era of terror,” he said. “The message that has evolved from come to Syria and win the fight to kill where you are.”
