President Trump said Tuesday he is confident the Senate will pass a healthcare bill to replace Obamacare by the end of summer, after finishing up a meeting with GOP leaders in the White House.
“The Senate I’m sure will follow suit and get a bill across the finish line this summer that will be great healthcare for Americans,” Trump said.
On May 4, the American Health Care Act was passed by the House to replace Obamacare. Senate Republicans said they will write their own legislation instead of voting on the House’s bill.
Trump called the process of getting the American Health Care Act passed in the House a “very, very long and difficult negotiation.”
Just before the meeting, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., promised the Senate would vote on a bill soon.
