Hollywood feminist: Trump thinks we should be ‘punished’

PHILADELPHIAActresses Lena Dunham and America Ferrera took the stage Tuesday night eager to deliver a series of blistering jokes about Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

“According to Donald Trump, my body is probably like a 2,” Dunham, creator of the HBO series “Girls,” told the Democratic delegation.

“According to Donald Trump, I’m probably a rapist,” Ferrera added.

“We know what you’re all thinking: why should you care what some television celebrity has to say about politics? We feel the same way,” the two women told the crowd. “But he is the Republican nominee and we need to talk about it.”

“The unfunny fact is that this man would have you believe that our differences are what define us,” Ferrera said, noting that she is the “proud child of Hungarian immigrants.”

“Not everybody looks at the millions of young people like me, children born into struggling families, children born to immigrant parents, children who are immigrants themselves,” Ferrera continued. “Not everybody looks at them and sees an investment, but Hillary [Clinton] has spent the last 30 years driving what she sees in us – not our color, gender, or economic status but our capacity to grow into adults capable of contributing to this great country.”

Dunham, taking her turn, described herself as a “pro-choice, feminist, sexual assault survivor with a chronic reproductive illness.”

“Donald Trump and his party think I should be punished for exercising my constitutional rights,” she said to applause.

The two women blasted Trump for peddling hatred and encouraged Democrats to turn out in November because Americans “cannot afford to see [Trump’s] vision of America come to be.”

“We the voters carry the future of this country. We don’t accept hatred as the norm of our communities, so why would we accept it in the Oval Office?” Dunham said.

“Let’s say with one voice that we all have worth,” the two women told the crowd. “Let’s put Hillary Clinton in the White House and let’s declare love trumps hate.”
