Moderator warns VPs: Stop interrupting

Vice presidential debate moderator Elaine Quijano had to warn the two vice presidential nominees Tuesday night to stop interrupting each other after a testy exchange over whether Donald Trump should release his tax returns.

“Gentlemen, the people at home cannot understand either one of you when you speak over each other,” she said early in the debate between Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

Kaine frequently interrupted Pence early in the debate, and did so again as Pence tried to answer a question about Trump’s reported $916 million loss in 1995.

“Richard Nixon released tax returns. If you can’t meet Nixon’s standard,” Kaine said before Quijano told both of the public officials to stop interrupting each other.
