A majority of people surveyed in a recent poll believe that neither President Trump nor former Vice President Joe Biden is in good health.
Less than a fifth of those polled by Politico/Morning Consult, the results of which were released Wednesday, think either of the 2020 presidential candidates is in “excellent health.” Only 18% signaled that they believe the president is in “excellent” health, while 12% said the same about the presumptive Democratic nominee.
Additionally, 22% of the 1,988 registered voters who were surveyed consider the president to be in “good” health, while 27% believe Biden is.
About one-third said that both candidates were in “poor” health, with 33% saying that about Trump compared with 27% for the former vice president. The poll was conducted between June 19-22 and had a margin of error of 2%.
The issue of the candidates’ health has been a frequently discussed topic amid the campaign.
Last week, the president’s campaign launched a “Barely There Biden” website dedicated to “detail Joe Biden’s descent into in coherence throughout his third campaign for president.”
“The site contains video lowlights of Biden’s disjointed ramblings from this campaign, but also relays important episodes, such as Biden’s failure to take a cognitive function test and his misremembering when his two brain aneurisms occurred,” the campaign said in a statement at the time of the launch, noting that the former vice president had two aneurysms discovered and treated in 1988.
Although the Trump campaign frequently highlights Biden’s speaking slip-ups, the president has also recently faced questions about his health.
Footage of the president slowly descending a ramp after giving a graduation speech at the U.S. Military Academy and showing him using two hands to drink from a glass of water gained attention on social media. Trump addressed both cases during his rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma, last weekend.
