The U.S. Soccer Foundation has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to three D.C. schools to support soccer programs and field-building initiatives, the foundation announced Wednesday. The grants to SEED School of Washington, D.C., KIPP DC and the Washington Jesuit Academy were part of $2.4 million the charitable arm of U.S. Soccer gave to 60 nonprofit organizations across 20 states and the District, the foundation said. Grants support nonprofits that give kids the opportunity to play soccer and live a healthy lifestyle as part of the foundation’s mission of “enhancing and growing the sport of soccer as well as improving the well-being of children in underserved areas.” — Liz Farmer
