Rioters set Portland ICE facility on fire as federal agents shoot barrage of pepper bullets in an attempt to disperse crowd

Rioters in Portland reportedly set fire to a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building while overwhelming riot police.

“The Portland ICE facility is currently on fire,” freelance journalist Grace Morgan reported on Twitter, accompanied by a video showing part of the building in flames.

Police and federal agents soon arrived on the scene and faced off with rioters, according to another freelance reporter.

“Police and protesters have formed a line across the road, facing off, in front of the ICE building in the South Waterfront district of Portland Oregon,” freelance journalist Chris Landis reported on Twitter.

Officers reportedly had trouble getting the scene under control, at one point firing a barrage of pepper bullets at rioters in an attempt to get the crowd to disperse.

“Federal agents retreat and unload hundreds of pepper bullets on protesters outside the Portland ICE facility,” Morgan reported.

The fire was eventually put out while police remained on high alert around the building.

“The fire has been out for awhile now, a large hole into the lobby remains. DHS officers watch from the roof,” Landis reported.

Photos showed a large hole in the lobby areas of the facility, with officers standing off with rioters where the fire once blazed.
