Top Republican: Obamacare repeal and replace bill coming in two weeks

PHILADELPHIA — House Budget Committee Chairwoman Diane Black told reporters a bill to repeal Obamacare and replace parts of it will be completed by her committee “in about two weeks,” and will be ready for vote in the House by late February or March.

Black, R-Tenn., said Republicans are working on a repeal measure “with some replacement in it,” depending on whether it complies with a budgetary rule allowing the Senate to pass it with 51 votes.

The replacement to the healthcare law will “open up the options” for health insurance, Black said. Black did not respond to reporters who asked whether every person now covered under Obamacare would maintain coverage.

Republicans are planning a years-long transition period for those using the current health care law. But President Trump has urged them to step up that timetable and include replacement elements as soon as possible.
