Amnesiac woman ID’d as former Hollywood jeweler to stars

A woman with no memory rescued from a remote Croatian beach 10 days ago has been identified as a former Los Angeles jeweler to the stars.

The story of an injured woman with no name spread around the world as tips poured in from people who believed they had seen or interacted with her. In the end, it was two Angelenos who identified the mystery woman as Daniela Adamcova, 57, someone they helped get off of Skid Row in 2015, according to the Daily Beast.

INJURED WOMAN WITH NO MEMORY IS A TRUE MYSTERY

Croatian police confirmed the identity Tuesday.

Adamcova was found by fishermen sitting on a jagged rock on the island of Krk. She had unexplained facial injuries and did not know her name or life history, but one vital clue was her ability to speak fluent English. Tourists who spoke to Adamcova said she mentioned being retired in Slovakia and traveling through Croatia.

Croatian police said Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 they are still working to establish the identity of a woman found over a week ago at a northern Adriatic Sea island with no recollection of who she is or where she came from. Police told the Associated Press they are searching the terrain and conducting numerous interviews with residents and tourists or anyone who has information about the woman discovered on the island of Krk on Sept. 12. But old news articles reveal a more glamorous past. Adamcova left her native Czechoslovakia in 1984 and moved to Los Angeles, where she learned how to design jewelry. She then dated a film producer, who got her foot in the door to lend jewelry to other film producers.

Adamcova’s clientele grew to include Diana Ross, Barbra Streisand, Brigitte Bardot, and the cast of Melrose Place, the Daily Beast said.

Her jewelry was made from the best materials and earned spots in international exhibitions. At some point, she experienced hard times and ended up homeless on Skid Row. That’s where she encountered Nina Smidt, who gave her a job at a company she managed, and Tyler Madison, who allowed Adamcova to live rent-free in a warehouse he operated. The pair made the identification.

“[She] had run into hard times and bad luck. But she was a really good worker, smart, and she has a wonderful heart,” Smidt told the Daily Beast. “Tyler and I are concerned about her well-being and are hopeful that now that her identity has been confirmed by the embassy, her family will be able to help find out what happened to her.”
