Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell signed into law Monday a tax credit for film producers who work in the state.
Under the legislation (SB257 and HB861), companies that produce films, television, documentaries or interactive digital media can apply for tax credits for money spent on Virgina goods, labor and services.
“Virginia has so much to offer with its rich history and natural beauty, and it is critical that we capitalize on this to attract new motion picture productions to the state,” McDonnell said in a statement.
Forty-two states and the District have enacted similar tax credits.
