GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) — Central Indiana high school students are putting their best ideas forward as they develop inventions and market them to local businesses.
The 11 students at Center Grove High School used three-dimensional computer programs to create drawings of their products. They updated the plans as they discovered which features didn’t work or were too expensive.

The Daily Journal reports (http://bit.ly/ZfWe8p ) the projects were part of the school’s engineering design and development course. The goal of the class is to give students interested in engineering careers early experience coming up with ideas and making them a reality.
Engineering teacher Cory Cooper says students researched patents to make sure their ideas hadn’t already been done and raised funds to pay for materials not covered by their lab fees.
