The Smithsonian Institution teamed up with Google to map the inside of several local museums, complete with labeled exhibits and step-by-step walking directions. The floor plans will be built into the existing maps application on Android phones. It will show visitors’ locations within buildings and even automatically update when they change floors. Starting Tuesday, it will be available for 17 Smithsonian museums and the National Zoo. “[People are] going to be able to see what’s behind that corridor, or what’s on the second floor without having to find an information sign,” Smithsonian spokesman Brian Ireley said. – Jacob Demmitt
